One of our customers in Austin Texas had recently finished the complete renovation of their home and this included completely remodeling their garage as well which is why there was no garage door installed when we arrived to do the Overhead door installation.
They wanted to go with a garage door that was really nice so they decided on a great looking 16′ x 7′ CHI Overhead Door that was bronze colored with long panel windows.
One nice thing about this model of CHI door is that there are what is called Mission Inserts that are there to dress up the windows and it turned out fantastic as you can see in the picture below.
Before us was a newly renovated 16′ x 7′ 2-car Garage with no Door Installed before we got there to help. After us they had a Beautiful 16′ x 7′ Bronze Colored CHI Overhead Garage Door with long panel windows and mission inserts.
Being a complete remodel the customer had removed the old garage door springs so that they could start fresh with a new door, springs and opener which was without a doubt the best decision because like all springs they have a shelf life.
When we came out and installed the CHI Overhead garage door and Liftmaster opener for the customer we also installed a brand new set of center mounted garage door torsion springs for them which you can see in the picture below:
This way they should be good for quite some time if they keep up with the regular maintenance which is recommended for everyone but will vary as to the schedule by where you live.
In other words the rougher the weather the more often you should have your garage door, springs, and opener maintained. You can see a post we did a while back on maintaining your garage doors here.
It is always a good rule of thumb that any time you replace your overhead door you should consider replacing your garage door springs at the same time to avoid additional service fees later on because springs will generally wear out before the door.
